Finishing our basement

This month and last month have disappeared in the chaos of finishing our basement. To save money, I acted as my own contractor as well as doing the painting, caulking, backsplash tiling, and detail "stuff." My writing time disappeared, as well as any hope of concentrating on the story for Kedros book 3.

If I had paid a contractor, would I have saved much time and precious creativity? I don’t think so. There’d still be distracting, teeth-vibrating sounds coming from the basement. Decisions would still have to be made… take a look at Maria Snyder’s entry on The Summer that Wasn’t. In my case, I lost two months. I hope to rejuvinate my writng, creativity, and storytelling at MileHiCon 40, which is only three days away.
